About

Gita Ralleigh is a poet, writer & creative writing lecturer.

Gita grew up reading fantasy adventures that took her to faraway lands. The closest she came was on family holidays to India, where old palaces, ice-capped mountains, monkeys and elephants were part of everyday life.

During a long career as a medical doctor, she studied for an MA in Creative Writing at Birkbeck, University of London, and wrote short stories and two poetry books, winning the Wasafiri prize for fiction in 2013. She also has an MSc in Medical Humanities from King’s College London.

Her children’s novels, The Destiny of Minou Moonshine and The Voyage of Sam Singh are published by Zephyr/Bloomsbury. She lives in London with her two children and teaches creative writing to science and medical undergraduates at Imperial College.
